Who We Are

Care That Goes Beyond the Basics

Compassion 24-7 Care was built on a simple but powerful belief: every adult with a developmental disability deserves more than just supervision β€” they deserve a home where they are seen, valued, and supported to grow.

We are a licensed DD group home in Oregon, operating under Oregon DHS standards. Our team is on-site and fully awake around the clock β€” not sleeping night staff β€” because we know that real needs don't follow a schedule. From daily routines to unexpected moments, someone who genuinely cares is always there.

We work closely with DHS case managers, support coordinators, families, and DNS providers to develop and carry out individualized care plans that honor each resident's goals, preferences, and unique needs.

FAQ

Questions We Hear Often

For case managers, support coordinators, families, and anyone exploring DD group home placement in Oregon.

What exactly is a DD group home, and how is it different from a nursing facility?
A DD group home is a real house β€” in a real neighborhood β€” where a small group of adults with developmental disabilities live together and receive around-the-clock support from trained staff. It is not a clinical setting. The focus is on daily living, community connection, personal growth, and quality of life. A nursing facility is designed for medical and skilled nursing care; a group home is designed for people who need structured residential support but not hospital-level intervention. Group homes are the least restrictive, most home-like residential option for adults with developmental disabilities.
What does "24-7 awake staff" actually mean β€” and why does it matter?
At Compassion 24-7 Care, every shift β€” including overnight β€” is covered by a fully awake, active staff member. We do not use "sleep staff," where a worker sleeps in the home and is only woken for emergencies. Our overnight staff are alert, monitoring the home, available for residents, and completing documentation throughout the night. This matters enormously for residents who have nighttime anxiety, behavioral needs, health conditions, or simply need to know that someone is genuinely present and attentive at 2am β€” not asleep down the hall.
Is Compassion 24-7 Care licensed by Oregon DHS?
Yes. Compassion 24-7 Care operates as a fully licensed Developmental Disabilities (DD) group home under Oregon Department of Human Services (DHS) licensing and oversight. We meet all Oregon DHS standards for staffing, physical environment, documentation, and resident rights. We undergo both announced and unannounced inspections and maintain a strong compliance record.
Do you accept residents with Direct Nursing Services (DNS) needs?
Yes. We welcome clients who receive or are eligible for Direct Nursing Services. We coordinate directly with a DNS provider to ensure that nursing oversight is integrated smoothly into the resident's overall plan of care. Case managers and families do not need to locate a separate DNS provider on their own β€” we handle that coordination and make the process as seamless as possible.
Can family members visit, and how involved can they be?
Absolutely β€” and we strongly encourage it. Family involvement is one of the most important factors in a resident's sense of well-being and belonging. We welcome visits during reasonable hours, help coordinate special outings, and maintain open communication with family members and guardians about their loved one's progress, daily life, and any significant events. We consider family to be partners in care, not visitors.
How do you handle behavioral challenges or a psychiatric crisis?
Every staff member is trained in de-escalation and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI). Every resident has an individualized crisis plan developed in coordination with their behavioral health team. If a psychiatric emergency occurs, we follow that plan β€” which may include contacting a mobile crisis team, calling the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, or calling 911. We maintain detailed incident documentation per DHS requirements and communicate promptly with the resident's care manager and family.
How do I make a referral, and how quickly can you respond?
You can make a referral by calling us directly at (503) 309-5199, emailing us at compassion24-7care@gmail.com, or completing the referral form on this page. For all standard referrals, we respond within one business day. For urgent or crisis placements, please call us directly so we can prioritize your situation. We work with DHS care managers, support coordinators, hospital discharge planners, DNS providers, and families.
